CALVA LOUISE - BELICOSO - SINGLE REVIEW

'Belicoso' is the first glimpse into a new era for Calva Louise, and the first song to be released from their forthcoming EP 'Interlude for the Borderline Unsettled'.

It is Calva Louise's second song featuring lead singer Jess singing in Spanish, her mother tongue, following 'No Hay' from debut album Rhinoceros. Their ability to switch between both languages in 'Belicoso' without it affecting the flow of the song is testament to the band's songwriting, which is nothing short of incredible. 'Belicoso' is quite different to Calva Louise's usual sound, which tends to be what I can only categorize as 'happy punk music', yet it still keeps the same bouncy feel that all of their upbeat songs have. I have been lucky enough to see 'Belicoso' live quite a few times now, and it is always the song that gets the moshpits going, it is energetic and fast-paced, but still gives crowds a chance for a breather before bursting back into the chorus again.

I am incredibly excited to see where this new era takes Calva Louise, but if 'Belicoso' is anything to go by, 'Interlude for the Borderline Unsettled' should definitely be something to watch out for.

Go stream 'Belicoso' on your favourite major streaming site, it's on them all!
