SUGARSTONE - TIGER, REACH OUT! - SINGLE REVIEW

'Tiger, Reach Out!' is Salford based Sugarstone's first release since Summer 2019, and boy, was it worth the wait.

Anyone who follows my venture into photography on Instagram knows I've spent a lot of time shooting Sugarstone since last September, meaning I've been there, to witness first hand, their rise from a band who hadn't quite found their sound yet into arguably one of the most exciting upcoming bands in Manchester at the moment. Having already supported the likes of Strange Bones, Calva Louise and Kid Kapichi in the last year or so, they've spent the time inbetween gigging experimenting with different sounds and creating new content, all whilst perfecting the sound and message they want to convey, and 'Tiger, Reach Out!' is a perfect example of how far they've come in such a short time.

It is wildly different to Sugarstone's other three released singles, and very clearly influenced by the Romantic Pop era of the 1980s, which propelled the likes of Duran Duran, the Pet Shop Boys and the Human League to stardom. From the very beginning, 'Tiger, Reach Out!' is reminiscent of music from the Early 80s, with its heavy featuring of synthesisers and similar electric sounds which were a staple of the Romantic era, but at the same time is very clearly and uniquely Sugarstone.

'Tiger, Reach Out!' is a masterpiece, and it marks the beginning of what's to come for Sugarstone, and I wouldn't be surprised if you start to hear it everywhere this summer.

It just makes you want to get up and dance, you can't help but move when it comes on. Play it and see if you can resist dancing, I dare you, I bet you can't.

'Tiger, Reach Out!' is available on all major music platforms from midnight on 10th April 2020.
